Arts and Crafts

By the first picture you would think this might be a tutorial on how to paint a shirt, right? Wrong. This is anything but painting a shirt. I started out thinking it would be fun to "paint" a shirt with the Little Man during my trip down to Florida. I basically just wanted to have fun painting with him and then get his hand print on the shirt. Well, we actually did both of these things and sooooo much more! And by so much more, I mean we painted everything in sight. Including ourselves...

This is what we started with

We started out hard at work and quite focused (also some of us not wearing many clothes)
Then things turned silly (note - Little Man did not eat this and was not poisoned)
He did tell me he wanted to be in the Blue Man Group!
Then things really started to turn messy
What? Bath time already?!
We had so much fun and got so messy that I never even thought about taking an "after" picture of the painted shirt. Maybe Sis will take a pic and send it to me - hint hint.

She took the hint!

Lovely View

Have a great weekend! We're going to Lowcountry for some comfort food tonight with friends. Oh how I wish it weren't in the 30's so afterwards we could sit on our rooftop and see this lovely view. One day soon...

Stencil Art

I can't believe I haven't found this site before now. I have Googled "wall stencils" countless times which actually doesn't make sense since we rent the apartment but of yet still I search. However, as of last night the search is over! I came upon this amazing site - Olive Leaf Stencils. They're so fancy and different than any of the other stencils I've found. Now if only I had a wall to attack. I would love to do this on the wall behind our bed or somewhere in a dining room. But since that won't be happening I might have to try and convince Sis and Bro-in-law that they need this somewhere. Maybe I can even plan another visit back to Florida around this make-believe project. Hmmm...

Which one is your favorite?

"I Do" in Bling

Good Monday morning to you! I hope your weekend was great and refreshing. Hubs and I went on a couples retreat through church just a couple hours north of the city and it was a rejuvenating couple of days. After we got back to the city, we met up with some friends at the yummy Hill Country BBQ for dinner. However, before the lovely little getaway and dinner I finished some necklaces for an upcoming April wedding. These lovelies ended up showing some fantastic bling! I loved the way they turned out. I can't wait to see the pictures from the actual wedding day with these pieces adorning the special bridesmaid's necks. Don't you love weddings?!

Missing Things

I'm leaving to go back home this morning. I'm excited to be with Hubs and friends again but I'm not so thrilled about leaving some of my other favorite people. Not to mention the incredible weather, wearing summer clothes, etc. Here are some of the things I'll miss...

Sitting outside at night
The orange and grapefruit trees in Sis/Bro-in-law's backyard

Huge mossy trees
Having coffee and juice together in the mornings when we wake up

Hanging out with new Baby O
I'll miss those big blues
Goodbye, Florida. For now.

Speedy Weekend

We have a winner for last week's giveaway! Drum roll please.... comment #4, Melissa Triplett won!! Congratulations! I got the number from random.org which is a great little website for these types of giveaways.

On a different note, this weekend went by way to fast. Hubs came and already went back to NYC. With a busy almost 2 year old and a 2 week old things around here don't stop. So here's what we did in pictures, which is more fun than writing...

Dad came down to hang out with Hubs and took Little Man and Hubs golfing. Then met up with the rest of us for a drink and appetizers out on the lawn overlooking the lake at Houstons. Pretty awesome! (There was an aggressive duck - meaning behind the photo in the middle)
Since I'll be back in NYC when Bro-in-law turns 31 this weekend we celebrated after sitting on the lawn. Little man and I baked a cake during the day.
These next few are just some of my favorites

Before hubs went back last night we had a full day of all outside activities. (He's going back to 30-40 degree weather) Played in the yard, went to the park, cuddled with Baby O, and dad and mom came down for a few hours to say goodbye and hangout! It was all-around a fantastic weekend and I'm sad it's already over.

Happy Giveaway

Happy Friday! This week has flown by with all the playing and redecorating. I'm actually not ready for the weekend because that means that it's getting closer to the time that I have to leave and go back home. To end this week I'll just remind you that this is the last day to become a follower and post a comment on Tuesday's post. I hope you all have a great weekend! Good luck on the giveaway!!

Second Home Makeover Edition

Well, here's another home edition post. Like I said, we've been busy. Sis and Bro-in-law renovated their "sun-porch room" after they first bought the house a few years ago. It had the fake green grass for carpet and other awesomely bad things. I wish I had a picture of this to show you all. I also wish I had a full picture of this wall with all the furniture coming out into the room but of course I forgot with all the other projects going on and babies/kiddos. So the only one I have is of the old entertainment system that was in the corner next to a side table and the huge comfy chair. Here it is, the process, and the finish product. It's so great!!!

Yep, we were watching Runaway Bride
We found this on Craigslist for $35! Imagine the possibilities and where we're going with this...
After a few coats of white paint, a clear finishing coat, and new knobs this is what we came up with...

Then after a trip to Ikea for 2 of the Expedit bookcases and baskets we have the awesome finished sunroom/boys playroom! All for about $200. Amazing, huh? This room feels so much bigger and more organized. We're not completely done with all the decorating details and hanging some pics of the boys but we have the basics. The boys have a place for all the toys and room to grow!
