Cover it Up!

So it's finally warming up here and feeling much like Spring!! Last year we never had those wonderful couple of Spring like months - it went from in the 50s to straight up high 80s lower 90s. So I'm going to live up these lovely days in the mid to upper 70s! It also means that it is time to bust out those bathing-suits and get in the sun. However, I can tell you that I am less excited about getting into that garment, which is why it's also cover-up season! I love a good cover-up, don't you? Here's a few to get a spring in your step...

A D D

Oh my goodness! I definitely have the no-motivation bug lately! I can't seem to get motivated for the life of me. You would think that this started a few months ago when I decided to go off of my ADD medicine but no I was fine...it's now that we know where we are moving that I am all over the place with no focus. Hubby and I laugh because during these last 9 months when we had no clue where we were going to be after business school we were fine living in the moment, enjoying life and having to trust God for our next move. BUT NOW that we know the job situation and the city, we're both anxious and having a very difficult time living in the moment! That doesn't make sense!!! It should be the other way around. At the same time, we're bothincredibly sad to leave the friends that we have made here (and of course the perfect North Carolina weather.) However, we both feel that these friends will be life-long friends!

The only thing that I've really been motivated to do is clean out the house and get it ready for a tiny little NYC shoebox apartment. I can't even tell you how many trash bags of stuff I had! It was crazy how much 2 people can accumulate.

I'm hoping that I can begin focusing on jewelry again!! It's great to be my own boss but also dangerous at the moment...

Weekend Travels

I can't believe that I totally dropped the ball this past weekend! Hubs and I went to Nashville to see his family and attend his cousin's wedding and I never took one picture!!! What was I thinking? It was so much fun and the wedding was beautiful. Congratulations Logan and Logan! :) It was also so much fun to celebrate and answer questions regarding our new upcoming city and job!!! (Have I mentioned that we're beyond excited?) It's now time to make some jewelry and look for apartments! I hope everyone has a great day and start to the week!

News! News!

Oh my, where to start??? Well my friends its time to share our exciting news... WE'RE MOVING TO NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry to all that were expecting we were pregnant, maybe next time. :) However, we couldn't be more excited! This has been such a long and crazy process. It started back in September, yes September! We have been searching for a job everywhere and anywhere since back in September. We have had interviews/leads from all over the map. We've watched most of our business school friends get wonderful jobs throughout the process leaving us wondering what in the world God had in store for us. NYC was not even on our radar until a week ago. The only place that was even hiring was Cleveland, Ohio. I've never even stepped foot in Ohio! Not to mention how extremely far away it is from both of our families. But even so we were okay going there if that was where we were led. However, a week ago we got a call that the ideal job had opened up in NYC and they asked if Hubby wanted to interview! We were nervous and totally shocked. For those of you who don't know, I have ALWAYS wanted to live in NYC. I actually turned down a job around 4 years ago in NYC to date and pursue Hubby. We then were going to go there for after we got married but ended up at UNC Chapel Hill. Now out of the blue when we were actually looking elsewhere God puts this in our direction! Needless to say, we didn't even have to think about whether we wanted to accept or not, it was absolutely where we were suppose to be!!!!! We are so so so excited about this next part of our life together and can't even imagine how different it will look than our first couple years of marriage BUT it will be great and such an adventure! I can't wait to begin!! Even though we'll be far from family and friends it's a direct flight from basically anywhere in the US. So come visit!!!! (We also already have some great friends up in NYC to show us around!)

If anyone has any tips they'd like to share, we're all ears. We're going up in a week to look at apartments!

Since I've been getting calls all day wondering if I'm preggers, I promise next time I say we have exciting news it will be about a baby. haha However, it will be a while...

Friends

I was hoping to post about some exciting news today but I guess it will have to wait. However, I still have an exciting post about my new friend. I love that through my business I get to meet new people all over the United States. And most of them have fun talents or businesses of their own! One of my new friends is located in Alabama and has a super cute kids clothing business. Cydney, is my new friends and owns Sweet Caroline Boutique. Check out some of the great smocking and gifts items! Since its almost summertime I'm thinking Spencer would be cute in these...

Wonderful Weekend

This past weekend was just so great! Hubby and I went down to Florida to surprise our bro-in-law for his 30th birthday. It was so much fun to see friends and family. The next day we drove to the beach to help Mom throw a wedding shower for one of my best friends! Then went back to our beach place and hung out with the guys and the little man. Spencer is now full on walking and was so cute playing in the sand on the beach! We didn't want to leave and come back but it just makes us excited for the next time. I hope everyone had a great weekend, too!

Happy Birthday!!

This post is all for my awesome bro-in-law!!! It's his big 30th birthday!! Happy Birthday, Brian you're really starting to become an adult. Brian is the best bro-in-law I could have ever asked for. He's basically like my brother (which I'm glad he's not or that would be weird) since he and my sister started dating while I was in high school. He was there to see me come in after my curfew, get busted by my parents, etc etc. Maybe sometimes to egg it on just a bit...Just joking, Brian (if you even read this) I love that you and Hubby are so similar and even better are friends. You're hilarious and I love that we like the same music and have since I met you. You're awesome and I hope you have a great 30th bday! I wish we were there to celebrate with you.

I stole this pic from Brian's sisters facebook...

Oops!

Well, I totally forgot about St Patrick's Day! I guess you all know that I'm not Irish now. I use to love celebrating and wearing green. However once I started working, staying out late on weeknights didn't sound quite as appealing. I do think that next year I want to have a party with green decorations and green beer. The question is in what city will we be living for this green party?!?! Here are some great fun pics from other peoples decorations...

Blog mistake...all the pics were deleted overnight!!! Sorry!!

September Issue

No, no I'm not confused on the months. I know it's April. Just joking, March. Anyway, Hubby and I actually watched the Anna Wintour (aka Vogue) documentary movie, September Issue the other night. We didn't find anything that tickled our fancy while scrolling through OnDemand until I saw Sept Issue. Of course, I was intrigued since I was an Apparel Merchandising and Product Design major but was apprehensive to suggest it to Hubby since he being in Finance probably wouldn't like it. However, one of the many reasons I love the man is his openness to my interests and fascinations. He's constantly asking questions about the Buying world and retail related topics. Also, he loves documentaries. And since the September Issue is a documentary he was also intrigued! It was an interesting movie. At times it made me miss working in a retail corporate office - I used to love the fast pace life style, things were constantly changing or having to be re-worked, all the racks of clothes in my office/outside and many other fun things. However, there were also lots of times that I realized how great it is to be out of the corporate world and on my own time schedule and still doing what I love! Anna Wintour is most definitely an interesting woman.

Sorry if this was rambling on and on - I was watching LOST while writing this...

The World is Pink

Well, I personally have not been into pink since I was a little girl. Since I have blonde hair and am short I sometimes feel a bit cutesy and little when I put on pink. (I love pinks on other people though.) However, I can say that I am getting over this issue and have actually gotten on board with this Springs bright pink tones and peaches. Who knows maybe I'm growing up. :) So since it's a hot color SMD has a few pink and peach pieces in the Spring collection! What are your thoughts about these colors?

Wedding Bliss

So I've told you how busy SMD has been this month and it's not slowing down...which is awesome!! If you haven't noticed, its beginning to be wedding season. And therefore, I've been working on multiple weddings and each one has such a different style. It makes it really fun for the design aspect! I love working with the brides and finding out their individual styles and just how different weddings can be. Here is one wedding that I just finished...its set at the beach and very preppy.

Also, did I mention that SMD is now international?!?!

Ready Set...

Like I said earlier in the week, I am ready for Spring weather to arrive!!! Here are some Spring time wants and color inspirations of SMD. I'm loving the bright floral pastels, linen jackets (or anything linen) and all the great wedge heels. I have a bunch of ribbon and linen fabric that I want to make statement necklaces from, yet my sewing machine is broken so I guess they will have to wait. It's alright since I made about 6 necklaces yesterday that I'll be posting later. I hope you all enjoy the weekend!!

Tan or Not to Tan?

Well, we're back and we're back without tans. This trip was definitely great but totally not what we were expecting when we planned it. You see, the week started off with a beautiful sunny day but then for the rest of the trip it was gloomy and rained every day! When it wasn't raining we managed to sit by the pool, read and sip our fruity tropical drinks (under clouds.) Then when it would start to rain we would go to the open air lounge area and play copious amounts of UNO! I hadn't played UNO in years but I have to say that it was great and I'm ready to go and buy my own deck! We had some serious matches between us...some people even came over to ask how we were still playing that card game. haha (we only have UNO pictures) The second to last night, hubby came down with some sort of stomach thing and we ended up flying back early...in the rain. It was so great to get away with just the Hubs, even with the gloomy weather! Now I'm completely ready for Spring to arrive! I've been working on all new Spring necklaces and earrings since we've been back. Does it feel like Spring where you are???
