Weekend of Birthday

The weekend is over and Ben is now into his first week of being a 30 year old. I have to say that we have celebrated well. Beginning with Hawaii, then his family coming in for the weekend, dinner in the West Village at MAS Farmhouse (where the Obamas ate), surprise party in Tribeca at Silver Lining, walking through Central Park, and finishing with homemade carrot cake and blueberry pie! It has been so much fun. I wish we could have birthdays every week!

We had a wonderful experience at MAS and would suggest you go and do the 3 course tasting menu or just let the chef pick for you!
 Incredible chocolate goodness

Such a pretty day in the park

Happy 30th!

We're back from Hawaii and it was one of the best vacations ever taken! I can't say enough good things about Kapalua. However, I'll get to the trip next week since today is a very important day. It's Ben's 30th birthday!! That's right, I'm married to an older man. He's no longer in his wild and crazy twenties but now in his responsible thirties and about to be a father. And a great father I know he'll be. I hope you're having the best birthday to date my love and I can't wait to spend the next 70 with you! Happy Birthday!!!

Hawaii and My True Self

This week has gone by extremely fast. Which I'm not complaining about because it means that there is only one more day between us and Hawaii! That's right folks, we're headed to Hawaii. Maui to be exact. (I know that I just got back into blogging but once again I'm going to be off all next week.) We have a few things on the itinerary but unfortunately there are some thing that will have to wait until next time due to pregnancy stipulations. ie, zip-lining, biking down the mountain (this one I would do but the website explicitly says "no pregnant women," and riding ATVs. However, we are going to a luau, playing golf at a PGA course, etc. I cannot wait to be in temperatures higher than 58 degrees. From as long as I can remember, my dream has been to live on an island where all we do is walk/hike along the ocean, tend to our pineapple/avocado farm, drive our Volkswagen van/Wagoneer, listen to Bob Marley and Sublime, and sleep with all the windows open. Needless to say, if you know Ben then you know that we are quite different! But somehow different compliments each other. So I sign off, as I go to my happy place for a whole week straight!!  (There's new necklaces up on the website to check out while I'm gone)

Brunch Goodness

Let's move onto a Spinach and Cheese Strata recipe, shall we? I made this for Easter brunch. I made two thinking we would need that much but only needed one. So we've been eating the second one for dinner this whole week. Needless to say, it's pretty darn good and a great brunch staple for when you have guests and need something to prepare the night before. I got this tasty recipe from the lovely Smitten Kitchen and would recommend it to anyone. (You can always add sausage to make it even heartier.) Here's the link to the recipe.
