Dinner and Shipping

A follow up to yesterday's birthday dinner post - we had the dinner and thoroughly enjoyed every bite! Not to mention the incredible view. It was all that people said it would be. The food, the ambiance, the service - just right! It was definitely an experience and a great memory for the books. Here's a little overview through pics, although they are nigh-time iphone pics so just take that as a blurry warning.

On another note, did you hear about the FREE SHIPPING Mother's Day Sale?! Get your mom something to show her how much you love her fast! Or, Moms out there pick something out and send it to your son, daughter, husband, etc. Speaking of which, my mom gets in town later this morning!! Hope yall have a great day!

My Birthday Boy

Today is Hubs' birthday!!!! It's his last year in his twenties. So we'll have to live this year to the fullest (not that we won't be doing that every year.) How are we going to celebrate you ask? We're going to a place right across the Brooklyn Bridge called River Cafe. We tried to get in back during Christmas but it was booked for a solid month. We've heard fantastic things about the restaurant. Besides the food, the views of the city's skyline are suppose to be amazing! This will be the first time since back when we were dating that we really "did up" one of our birthdays. And of course there is no one I'd rather "do it up" with than Hubs! Happy Birthday to the most incredible guy I know. I can't wait to spend all your other birthdays with you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Lifelong Friends

Wow! I can't believe it's almost been a full week since I last posted. Its safe to say that I flat out lied when I said I would be back after last Wednesday. I full intentions on blogging as soon as I got back from my Florida travels but I think all the excitement tired me out more than I expected. I didn't realize just how excited I was until I was on the plane last Thursday. I had to fall asleep in order to just sit in my seat and not annoy the stranger sitting next to me. I can't explain how great it was to see these girls after a year in our new lives. After our days at the beach/pool chasing and playing with the little boys we came back and put the boys down for bed. That's when we "forgot" about the time and started catching up on what has happened in our lives over the past year in our new cities. It was like no time had pasted - especially not a year! It's hard to explain these types of relationships since they are so rare. We only had a little over a year with each other and yet they know my hearts desires and struggles just like someone who I've known my entire life. Through our vulnerability we're able to encourage, challenge, and rejoice with each other. You'll be reading about another one of these weekends next year but it will also include the rest of the group, husbands, and even more babies! (Did I mention that the husbands had just as much fun together on their guys weekend in Atlanta?)

Make sure you notice the adorable pregnant belly!

In case you were wondering, I have still been working and just put a few new pieces up on the website. But more on that later!

Weekend Begins

My weekend begins this afternoon! I'm leaving for a girl's getaway down in Florida while the Hubs goes on a guys getaway down to Atlanta. We're meeting up with our Chapel Hill friends. Obviously, me with the wives/babies and Hubs with the husbands. We haven't seen them since graduation about this time last year so we're both extremely excited! I can't wait to see how much those little babies have grown and catch up on life since Business school. We're all in different places now so I'm sure there will be non-stop talking.

As I'm sure you guessed, I will be making a little stop to see my family and the growing Baby O.

I won't be back until Wednesday morning, so I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Food Galore

Sorry for the lack of the post yesterday. I was a bit preoccupied by leaving my phone in the cab. Yes, it was one of those days. So I was planning on going through with pictures all the yummy places we ate at this weekend etc but atlas, no phone means no pictures. Lost them all! Sorry to all who emailed me about dinners. I promise I took a ton of pics from the meals we had but now I have no proof. The weekend along with all the food was fabulous! It was the first real Spring-like weather weekend we've had yet. Hubs' parents stayed up on the Upper Eastside by the park in a hotel called, The Surrey. It was small and very chic. Which means we started the weekend off in the lounge with a dirty martini. Then we found ourselves towards Midtown/Times Square area at Bobby Flay's restaurant, Bar Americain. The food was great! (Thanks for those suggestions, DP.) It was a huge place and would be great when people come in town and are going to a play or after a long day of 5th Ave shopping. Then we made our way downtown to the West Village for some jazz at Cornelia Street Cafe. The jazz took place downstairs which made it very intimate and cozy due to how tiny it was down there. Again, I would highly suggest this place, especially since the cover was less than most of the other places around the city. By then we called it a night.
We met up the next morning up by the park and walked our little hearts out until late afternoon when we stumbled upon Boat Basin, a place I've been hearing about and been wanting to try. It's on the Upper West Side on the Hudson river right next to Riverside Park. We enjoyed sitting outside (finally), watched the boats, saw all the active bikers, and even ran into some friends we hadn't seen in over 4 years. It was a great way to end the "day." The it was of course time to begin the evening. We went to Mr Chow down in Tribeca. Now this is only a few blocks from our apartment but a totally different scene than we're used to down here. We felt more like we were in the Meatpacking district watching models in fur than in our quiet little hood. The food was quite tasty though and it was definitely fun to watch the "scene." Hubs' b-day is coming up so we decided to celebrate with a drink and dessert at the Brandy Library. Again, another place I would highly recommend. It's almost an old fashion Madmen type of place. The drink menu is around 35 pages long. I took a pic but you'll never know. Then finally to end the eating escapades we had a delicious brunch at SaraBeth's on Central Park South. Everything I saw looked amazing, not to mention my dish was amazing! I now and having trouble fitting into my clothes but it was all totally worth it! I can't wait to go back to some of these places. And in a few weeks we'll be doing it again with Hubs' side of the family down on the West coast of Florida!! I can't wait!

In-law Weekend!

What are y'all doing this weekend? We have a special weekend with my in-laws. They're coming in town to visit and we're going to celebrate with food. My favorite kind of celebrating! Tonight we're trying out Bobby Flay's restaurant and tomorrow we'll be hitting up some downtown eats. Hopefully, the weather holds out for us and warms up a bit.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

New Food Craze

Are Doughnuts the new Cupcake? Oh I hope so! If there were a plate full of doughnuts and a plate full of cupcakes - I would always go for the doughnuts. (Especially Krispy Kreme.) So if you've followed this blog for more than a couple months then you already know this little tid bit about me. I've said it before but this love for doughnuts started back at the age of around 4. Beginning with going on dates with my dad to Krispy Kreme (age 4), driving to Montgomery at 10PM (which is 35 minutes away from Auburn) in college just to get Krispy Kremes, then having Krispy Kremes passed out at the end of our wedding, Hubs surprising me with Krispy Kremes after going through Penn Station. The list goes on and on. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard that doughnuts are becoming the new cupcake. For the past month I have read article after article regarding where the best doughnuts are around the city and I intend to hit all the places! Here are some of the good reads on my beloved food item...

I obviously wrote this blog post out of the goodness of my heart in trying to inform you of the new craze that you should all jump on! (wink wink) By the way, where have you had your favorite doughnut? I might need to take a roadtrip...

These were a surprise a while ago from Hubs, returning through Penn Station!

Terrarium Tour

I promised for some terrarium love today and so I must deliver. We really did have fun making these little tiny house-friendly gardens. There were lots of materials, layers, and tiny figures. All played a major part in the making of our house gardens. Here are some examples of ours and then of course where you can get your own supplies, etc.

Sorry for the poor quality of pics - they were taken on the phone.

Can you find the elephant and tiny mushroom?

Sitting pretty and proud

Now its time to build your own (or just buy your own)

Go here to build your own.... here or here
Go here if you want to buy one.... here and here and here

Have fun with your green thumbs!

MoMa and Mexican

Good Monday Morning to you! How was your weekend? Our weekend was a busy one! Friday we went to the MoMa and had a look around. It was the first visit for both Hubby and me. There were definitely some exhibits that I did not understand. The normal - "why is this considered art?" question popped into my head more than a few times. But then there were also some quite famous exhibits. After our walk around the museum we ventured back downtown to the Mexican restaurant I mentioned on Friday. We had a feast! And I'm still feeling it. Saturday, we volunteered in the park again and then ran home to get ready for our girl's terrarium party. The party was so girly and fun. We again had lots to eat and then learned how to make our very own terrarium! They turned out so cute. Tomorrow I'll upload the pics from that party. For now, check out MoMa!

The start of the music exhibit
Hubs enjoying some Beastie Boys
Warhol!
Van Gogh
Me trying to figure out why garbage bags in a shopping cart is considered art. (Necklace is the new Locket for My Pocket)
We tried to get artsy and modern as well

Do you think we created art?

Now its time to work!

Weekend Fun

If I had given some preparation to this post like normal I would have tried to play some sort of April Fool's joke. However, I didn't and therefore failed with a joke. :(
However, let's talk about this weekend! Hubby brought home roses for me last night - just because (no joke!) It started the weekend off in a great unexpected way. We're also using a groupon for this neighborhood place tonight. So what are yall up to this first weekend of April?
